Rebecca Ferrin is a literary agent at Michelle Kass Associates who is actively looking for new writers.

She is a fan of all things dark, speculative, weird, fantastical, and gripping - anything that pulls the reader deep into the world from the first page. She loves writing that refuses to sit neatly in one category.
Specifically on the lookout for a fresh take on horror (including gothic horror, crossovers, dark academia, MG/YA, and literary horror), folklore or myth retellings, and SFF ‘What if’ stories that expand a simple premise into the universe. On the other end of the spectrum, always open to sweeping, immersive love stories - particularly those with atmospheric settings.

As well as her own interests, Rebecca will be able to discuss those of her Soho literary agency. Michelle Kass founded it in 1990 and today, it represents a wonderfully eclectic bunch of voice-led dramatists, authors, screen writers, and directors, many of them prize-winning, who work across all genres and aspects of story.

In addition to the usual talk and general Q&A, Rebecca has agreed to comment on some verbal pitches. If you’d like to give one, please aim to speak for around 2 minutes with an absolute maximum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

The cover charge for this event will go toward the Chalk Scribblers overheads and not to either the event hosts or the speaker. For that reason, we can only offer a refund if the event is cancelled.
