Hashrate Heating with Crypto Miners

Details

Crypto mining on blockchains like Bitcoin with ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits) generates substantial amounts of heat as a byproduct of high-performance computation. Traditionally, this heat is treated as waste, but some miners are exploring ways to reuse this waste heat, leading to the concept of "hashrate heating".

Hashrate heating can be used for heating homes, businesses, or industrial facilities by capturing and repurposing this thermal energy. Rather than paying for both heating and mining separately, some are now doing both with the same watts. Join us as we discuss:

  • Real-world implementations of hashrate heating from around the globe
  • How individuals and businesses are integrating mining rigs into HVAC systems
  • The economics and sustainability of dual-purpose mining setups
  • Future use cases and regulatory implications

Whether you’re a miner, an energy enthusiast, or just curious about how blockchain intersects with the real world, this session will offer insights into how we can rethink energy use in the Web3 era.

We will meet in the Enterprise Works building of the Research Park where there is open parking for guests and a CUMTD bus stop. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect, as lunch will be provided!
