About us
An online group for exploring practical ways of changing how we feel, think and respond.
Most of us know that simply telling ourselves to relax, stop worrying or think positively is not terribly effective. So rather than just talking about change, this group is about trying things and noticing what actually happens.
We’ll explore ideas and practices drawn from yoga, meditation, hypnosis and cognitive behavioural approaches. Sessions may include breathing and relaxation exercises, gentle movement, body awareness, guided hypnosis, mantra and meditation, attention exercises, and simple ways of working with thoughts and habits.
The emphasis is practical and experimental. You don’t need any previous experience, particular beliefs, impressive flexibility, or an ability to sit cross-legged while looking serene.
Events are live and online, hosted in a small group by Ian, a trained hypnotherapist with a background in CBT and many years of yoga and meditation practice.
We use a private self-hosted Jitsi video room, so you can join from home using a normal web browser.
Groups are deliberately small so there is time to meet one another and take part rather than simply watch another person talking at a screen.
Our first three one-hour workshops will explore:
• settling the body through movement, awareness, breathing and light hypnosis
• focusing attention using mantra, repetition and Benson-style meditation
• metta bhavana, exploring kindness and goodwill towards ourselves and others
Each workshop stands on its own, so you can attend one or join the whole series.
These are educational and experiential group workshops, not individual therapy or medical treatment. Nothing requires you to disclose personal information, and you are always free to sit out an exercise or keep your camera off.
Initial workshops are free to attend and are for adults aged 18 and over.
The group is associated with Transcendence Hypnotherapy & CBT:
The aim here is to create useful, interesting small-group experiences rather than sales presentations.
Come along with curiosity. Try something. Notice what changes.
