Roots & Reads: Reflection on Introductory Books
St. Sidwell's Community Centre, Sidwell Street, Exeter, EX4 6NN, GBJoin us in person for Roots & Reads Book Club Meet Up. All are welcome. No need to have read the book in order to attend. Please register for free on Eventbrite.
#### Roots & Reads is an Exeter-based book club for curious minds who want to explore non-fiction that matters. We read books that amplify marginalised voices, challenge dominant narratives, and deepen our understanding of climate and social justice.
For our first year, we’ll follow a curated reading list, after which the group will collectively vote on future selections. Our discussions connect the written word to real-world action, reflection, and community.
Whether you’re here to learn, share, or be inspired, Roots & Reads is a space to grow, question, and imagine a more just and sustainable world—one page at a time.
Our May/June book is As Long As Grass Grows by Dina Gilio-Whitaker
If you want to buy a physical copy of the book, if you head to BookBag in McCoy's Arcade, they offer discounts for book club members, so just mention it's for book club to get some money off while supporting a local business!
All are welcome at the meet up - you don't need to have read the book to join in and listen to the discussion. Various teabags and decaf coffee are provided - Just bring your own reusable cup!
