Big Birdwatch (RSPB)
Details
Join Friends of Belle Isle Park (FoBIP) as we survey the number of wild birds that call this beautiful riverside park home. The data collected will be submitted to the RSPB, but also serves as a record to inform our work to increase biodiversity and natural abundance within the park.
We’ll survey in small groups, spaced around the park and move to different locations and survey multiple times over the three hours to capture all corners of the park. Time will be factored in to meet and greet, discuss results and share coversation over snacks.
PLEASE RSVP and let us know if you cannot make it, or will be late, so that we know how many to plan for and when to expect you.
What to Bring:
Please bring a drink, a snack, clothes appropriate clothing for the weather, stout footwear. Binoculars and bird guides also a bonus.
If severe weather is forecast, check the event before travelling.
Sorry, no dogs permitted in this park.
The nearest public toilets are at the Quayside, 10 mins walk.

Friends of Belle Isle Park (FoBIP)
We are a group of predominantly local park users who recognise the value of this special place in regards to nature, and mental and physical well-being. Over several months, we have worked with the council to agree a new management strategy that aims to create a wilder Belle Isle, and thus increase opportunities for nature connection and all the benefits that brings to the community.
Belle Isle Park
Opened in 1992, Belle Isle is Exeter's newest park. With a view of ‘Leaf Land’ woods and the River Exe, the park is a favourite spot for lunchtime picnicking and casual bird watching. Herons, Egrets, Kingfishers, cormorants, woodpeckers, swifts and swallows are regular visitors. It's also a great place to watch the bats flying at dusk.
