Nature journaling on Santa Cruz Island

Dolphins, and foxes, and (maybe) whales, oh my! If the winds are in our favor, what better way to begin the fall festivities than venture to Santa Cruz Island (SCI)?

Once on the island, you can journal while hiking, snorkle among fishes, wander through the visitor center, or admire island fox behavior.

logistics:
tickets are $65 round trip.

• Ventura to Scorpion Cove, SCI: 8 am
  Sign in 45 mins before departure time
• Scorpion Cove, SCI to Ventura: 4:30 pm

Bring layers for the cold, windy boat ride and hot to overcast temperatures on the island. If you get seasick, take meds an hour before the boat departure time.

There are limited amenities on the island, so bring everything you will need for the day - water, food, sunscreen, hiking shoes, binoculars. The trails can be rocky, so bring hiking poles if you need stability support.
