Nature Journaling @ Arroyo Verde Park

It's been a little toasty lately! Let's retreat to the forested section of Arroyo Verde Park for a shaded and birdy journaling session.

This local park consists of trails that wind through of coastal sage scrub habitat (which will be dry at this time of year) and 14 acres of tree lined grassy areas for recreation. The different landscapes support different bird species and has a resident population of acorn woodpeckers!

The park is also popular for the Arroyo Verde Park Loop - a 2.4 mile loop with great views, but little shade.

Let's meet at the parking lot in the back of the park by Arroyo Verde playground.

Bring:
• $3 cash per vehicle for weekend parking fee
• Water and snacks
• journaling supplies - journal, pen/pencil, colors
• something to sit on - picnic blanket or portable chair.
• binoculars if you want to watch the birds

Other details:
• There are bathrooms and potable water by the parking lots.
• There are lots of picnic tables and grills! Bring a portable chair if you would like to sit under the trees.
• Dogs are allowed in the park. There is an area in the park where dogs are allowed off-leash from 6-9am. Unfortunately, we will need to watch out for dog poop when walking around.
• Arroyo Verde Park borders open space that connects to mountain lion country. Therefore, hikers exploring park trails need to exercise caution regarding mountain lions, rattlesnakes, ticks, and poisonous plants.
