Charleston: Hiking, Travel, and Adventure Closing Down June 28

Details
As an organizer on Meetup, I pay a monthly fee to Meetup. Since I don’t charge a fee to anyone to join this group, I pay this fee myself. My subscription comes up for renewal on June 28, and I have decided not to renew my organizer subscription with Meetup and I will be closing down Charleston: Hiking, Travel and Adventure on the Meetup website on June 28 and switching the group activities to Instagram.
I have set up CharlestonHikes on Instagram so you can follow our activities there.
The Full Moon Walk on July 10 is still on. The full moon will take place regardless of whether or not I cancel my meetup subscription. Copy the details of the event before the site closes down or check the CharlestonHikes Instagram account for the group and we will see you there.
Other events that will still take place.
The Rae Lakes Loop Hike September 7.
The Otter Trail Hike in South Africa in January 2026.
The main reason for closing the group on Meetup is that in the nine years I have been paying monthly organizer fees to meetup, I have seen few improvements on the site that can't be done on Instagram.
In 2026 I’ll be hosting the following adventure trips:
The Otter Trail in South Africa – January – filled.
The Pacific Crest Trail – Late March-April – August 2026: The Pacific Crest Trail is probably the most beautiful long distance hiking trail in the world. One of the few hiking experiences which will change your life. If this is on your bucket list contact me before I apply for permits.
The Lakes District – late August or September 2026– filled.
Naxos and Amorgos – October 2026 – 3 openings available. Naxos and Amorgos, in the Greek Islands. Three weeks working remotely, doing local hikes and sampling the food and wine in the villages of Filoti in Naxos and Tholaria in Amorgos.
