WHAT’S YOUR HURRY? Seeking the Archetype of Slow
Details
As James Hillman observed, our age is possessed by Hermes, who is not only the god of communication, but the one flying everywhere with wings on his feet. Indeed, acceleration has become pervasive in our lives, and now it’s ushering in AI with consequences we can hardly anticipate. We are hooked on speed, but surely there is a point at which we want to weigh the costs and benefits of our pace.
In this program, we consider archetypal presences who might show us another way of being than living at Hermes’ pace. Aphrodite and Hephaestus, who at first glance seem mismatched in marriage, may have more in common than it appears. Together, they might show us how to engage more richly in our lives by utilizing both attention and time.
Purchase tickets at CharlestonJungSociety.org. $20 general admission. $10 student admission. No charge for Season Pass holders.
