Daily Talks: Meet the Editors
Details
The Charlotte Film Festival is underway!
I'm going to these Daily Talks to try and get my film and acting industry sea legs back. Join me! They're happening every day at 4pm for the 5 days of the festival (today is day 3), at Eighty Eight's next door to the Independent Picture House and they're free : )
The Art and Science of Pitching talk (yesterday) opened up a lot of discussions about buy-in on projects, which is the unspoken essential element which makes filmmaking not just an art, but also an industry. The panelists and the host were great once again, offering insight into industry standard tools - decks and treatments (check out Frame Set by Caleb Farmer for film pitching) - and industry standard communication venues - in person and zoom, which they employ to secure funding for their projects, whether non- or for-profit, whether short, feature, commercial, or documentary. Fascinating and eye-opening discussion.
Todays talk about the Editors should be fun and insightful as well.
I may not be able to make it, as I'm called into work, but, by golly, I'm gonna try, because I'm so curious to learn about what industry standards look like these days in editing, having tried my amateur hand at it on projects many moons ago.
