What we’re about
"The red dragon rises from the lake of fire, its crimson and scarlet scales glisten with oily water fueling the infernal waters deep in the caves of Mrigruul, the place of equal parts legend and horror. The fury in the beast's eyes sends chills through your spines despite the searing heat. You swear you think the leviathan chuckled amidst the crackle of flames and rhythmic echoes of water dripping. You see it open its impressive maw, and the soul-sinking sensation grips each of you with impending dread!" the DM said as he swept his gaze over the party of low-level characters - most of whom have never encountered anything more threatening that a tribe of orcs, and the occasional troll.
The party caller, who is playing an Elf character who possesses equal parts comeliness and fierceness, looks over the other three players to gauge their reactions. The silent response of smiles and a faint murmuring of "oohs" says it all. "We attack! I ready my bow, the magic-user is readying her spell, the cleric will bless us with his most powerful prayers, and the thief will attempt to climb the cavern walls to the ceiling in order to attack the creature from above."
A smile comes across the DM’s face as he responds, “Excellent! Sounds like it is time for us to roll initiative…”
Does this sound intriguing? Make you want to take out your favorite set of dice and get them warmed up? Or have you never held a polyhedral die in your hands before? Well, then, this may be the place for you!
Even if you have never played D&D - or any other RPG (role-playing game) before, don't worry, this group is welcoming to all levels of gaming play. Now, specifically, I have a love of the old BECMI rules, and that is the version which I base my rules from for the games I run; with some additional modifications from other editions of D&D and other roleplaying suppliments. That’s how I roll (pun intended).
But if you want to DM games within this group using other versions of the rule, that is perfectly fine. This is meant to be a D&D group with the primary intention of social interaction and having an evening's fun, not necessarily getting too technical with the rules and complex tactical play. And if we can get several people interested in DM-ing(Dungeon Mastering) separate sessions then that adds to the fun and excitement, especially for new gamers looking to experience the world of D&D and how the rules and gameplay can be as diverse as the people who participate.
So what are you waiting for?
