Spring Snow Powder Party! - Pop-up Ski/Snowboard Meet-up Sugar Mountain Resort

Details
Hey everyone. Hope you've been staying healthy!
Well, the ski season and weather have been really interesting in our region to say the least. Hoping since our last outing you've been able to sneak in a trip while conditions were right!
While the weather and the pandemic have still been a challenge, things are normalizing again, and we have next season to look forward to at least for those who only ski in this region!
However, as luck would have it, ski areas in the NC mountains were blessed with 5 inches of new natural snow today with crazy cold temperatures and wind.......making conditions pretty brutal.
But Sunday? Cold start, but moderate midday temperate, temperate finish and near perfect blue skies and fresh snow to play on all day.
So.....I am throwing out a last-minute invitation for folks to meet-up for a few hours of season ending ski-bliss at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort!
No pressure to meet time for a car-pool this time. You are welcome to drive up to the mountain and meet there. However, I am happy to take three fully vaccinated enthusiasts with me if we can meet at 6:45 and leave at 7 departing from the Target at mid-town Charlotte. Just let me know and I will share my contact information separately for coordination.
Otherwise, we'll be meeting up at the outside ticket booth at approximately 9 a.m.
Spring Ski rates started on March 7th. Check the website for lift ticket costs. Both adult and child lift ticket pricing is shown. Beginners, you'll want to purchase either a learn to ski package (includes rentals and lessons) or a full day pass, but not the twilight session unless you plan to stay and ski tomorrow night. Lift tickets cannot be purchased on-line at this resort! Feel free to politely recommend that they implement this process next season!
If you need to rent equipment:
For beginners and those who haven't been up in a while:
-Rent Ski's, Snowboards, Helmets and Boots from the rental department at the mountain. That way you can trade out for adjustments / sizes if needed, It will be more cost effective to get the learn to ski package.
-Check the weather for Banner Elk, NC and dress for the weather with waterproof or resistant jackets and pants; Dress in layers of non-cotton clothing that wicks but does not retain moisture so that you stay dry and warm and can remove a layer as the day warms tomorrow into the 40"s! Same for hats and sox, wear wool or acrylic.
-Bring a change of clothes for the ride back in particular. There are restrooms where you can change and lockers where you can store your smaller items if you choose not to leave them concealed in your vehicle.
For more advanced skiers:
All of the above applies, however you may wish to rent equipment at home or off site near the resort entrance gateway/road to avoid the lines or obtain somewhat better equipment. However, renting at the mountain is always a convenient option.
If you decide to just meet us there, meet either outside in front of the ticket area or downstairs inside the rental area. Wear or wave something blue so we know it's you!
Email Malcolm at archeye98@gmail.com or respond here, Once you've confirmed your attendance, we'll exchange mobile numbers separately.
As we mentioned a few weeks back, we're hoping many of you will join us as we push to get some things going. We want to lay the groundwork to get everyone back up to snow sports speed. Our national organization will celebrate its 50-year anniversary next year in Vail, Colorado and we hope to take a big group out to play. Let's get skiing (and hopefully a few other warm weather activities) and start to plan to show up for the Summit event in force.
We're keeping our events safe and simple! Bring your best energy and plan to have fun and maybe meet a few new people. If you like drama or want to be negative, these are not the gatherings for you OR US! LOL!
Yes, it's short notice, but so are the cold temps and new snow. Sign up now and let's go have some fun!
