Spades Tournament #6
Details
This will be 4-10 teams in a round robin or playoff bracket, to compete for the spades championship! There are 6 tournaments in the year. The 1st teams to RSVP and pay will have reserved seats but please advise if you can no longer play so that I can get a replacement team. I think most people have teams but if you are an individual player, I can match you up with other individuals.
Please READ the below and let me know if you have questions or concerns.

- Payment. Payment details will be sent upon registration. $20/person to reserve a seat.

- Arrival Time. Please arrive 15-30 minutes early so you can get checked in and get your teammate if you are coming solo. Rules will be read at 3 PM.
- Team Name. For new teams, please think of and provide me your team name.
- Rules. Please read the spades rules summary below for the event. Full rules will be sent to you after registration.
a. Game Play Style: Card order is Ace High to Deuce Low. Nil bids are legal and +
or - 100 points. Nil bids are written as "0" on bidding chips. Scoring is classic
standard 10 times bid plus 1 for each extra trick. Nil books count toward partners'
total bid. Spades cannot be played unless broken or no other cards are available
to play.
b. Prize Money - 80% goes toward prize money, remaining 20% to 2025 tournament
of champions at the end of the year. 37.5% of teams will qualify for this
tournament based on number of ranked teams at end of year, but no less than 6
teams. Top 6 ranked teams or 37.5% of teams will be given a seat at that
tournament, whichever is greater. Any team that wins 2 tournaments in a year
will be given a seat and the remaining ranked teams will get a seat. Tournament
wins must be won by the actual team without a sub player. For example: 1 team
wins 3 tournaments and a 2nd team wins 2 tournaments during the year, then a
seat will be given to both those teams at the end of year tournament and the
remaining seats will go to the top 4 ranked teams to get 6 seats. If only 6 teams
are in the final tournament of champions, the top 2 ranked teams will get a buy
into the semifinals.
c. Player Substitutes - Subs are allowed as long as 1 of the 2 teammates are available
to play. If two individuals from two different teams want to sub on each others
team, then both teams will accrue points. However, a team with a sub can win a
tournament, but a tournament win will not be counted toward the total to get into
the tournament of champions. No subs are allowed for the tournament of
champions and only teams that have played at least one tournament together as an
established team can qualify for the tournament of champions.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
