Ethical Business Building the Future

Details

Our presenter is Nabil Elias, Ph.D. The presentation will discuss the necessity to integrate several principles to build a prosperous and peaceful business and society. The focus of the presentation is on EBBF, Ethical Business Building the Future, a Baha'i inspired organization that promotes and accompanies people along their path to transform organizations and the workplace.

The principles that EBBF adopted are unity, justice, service, moderation, gender equality, human nobility, and sustainability. The presentation will discuss each of these principles and the potential consequences of integrating them into the workplace.

Nabil Elias is a member of the Baha’i Community of Charlotte and its public information officer. Born in Egypt in a Baha’i family with a Coptic Christian background, he grew up to embrace world citizenship and the oneness of humankind. He believes that true religion is the cause of unity and concord, that humanity would be better off without religion if it becomes a source of enmity, hatred, or contention.

Fifty-three years ago, Nabil came to the United States on a Fulbright grant to do graduate work at the University of Minnesota before he moved to Canada. He taught financial and management accounting primarily in MBA and MACC programs at several universities in Canada (the University of Manitoba and Laval University), in the United States (University of Minnesota, Thunderbird, and UNC Charlotte), in France (INSEAD, HEC, and ESCP), Mexico (ITESM), and taught in UNC Charlotte’s MBA programs in Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

He is a past president of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, and former member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board. He moved to Charlotte in 2001 as director of the MBA program at UNC Charlotte and after completing 49 years of college teaching, he is currently Faculty Emeritus at the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte.

Come out and have a great evening with thoughtful friends. Feel Free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to share.
