6.5-7.5mi, Three Loops and a Beer at the Whitewater Center
Details
Let's try out a hike that explores the Whitewater Center! This hike will start at one of the parking lot trailheads- be sure to reference the provided link below. We'll first hike a 2mi loop around the dog pond. Then we'll do a 2.7mi loop along the Catawba River. Lastly, we'll take a loop that brings us into the Whitewater center itself, notably passing by the Pump House Biergarten. Alltrails is usually pretty conservative, but it's saying this hike should be about 6.3mi, but I'm posting this for 6.5-7.5mi, accounting for any wrong turns or deviations. With a casual hiking pace between 2-3mph, this will take about 3 hours, plus any time folk elect to take at the biergarten.
Since this hike incorporates loops, it's easy to shorten the hike to your preferences, either a 2mi or a 4.7mi route.
We'll start promptly 5 minutes after the event begins, so please be on time. If I get a message from anyone that they're running behind, I'll hold the group back for an additional 5 minutes, but we're hitting the trail 10 minutes after the scheduled start in nearly all scenarios. If you don't see a dude with a red beard, click on the link below for parking or the pin in the event page. These parks sometimes have multiple parking lots, and you've got to make sure you're using the actual pin, not the park name.
