About Cystic Fibrosis:
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.

Based on 2023 Registry data, the median age of survival for people with CF who were born between 2019 and 2023 is predicted to be 61 years. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m running the 2025 Berlin Marathon to help change that reality.

About Farai Gwata, who is running the race to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis:
The Berlin Marathon will be my 5th marathon. As an avid marathon runner, I'm keenly aware of the importance of breathing in determining my performance on race day. I consider myself fortunate to be able to train and race with no difficulty breathing. Children and adults affected by Cystic Fibrosis aren't so lucky. As a member of the Berlin Marathon Breathe Team, I'm raising money to improve the quality of life and life expectancy of those with Cystic Fibrosis.

I'm excited to partner with Tierney from @readywillingstable in hosting a singles mixer that will not only bring people together and hopefully make meaningful connections, but also raise awareness and money to aid in the fight to one day cure Cystic Fibrosis.
