February Social Hour - Blue Line System!

Join us Saturday Feb 7th for Social Hour! These events are a great chance to meet new people who are interested in urbanism and learn more about who we are and what we do.

Familiarization tour of the Charlotte Light Rail system: Several of our folks have asked for a tour of the light rail system since they may be new to town or haven’t ridden the line before. So today we will go joy riding as a group for our First Saturday of the Month Social Hour, for any who may be interested.

Be sure to arrive at the various stations with plenty of time before the scheduled departure, and with time to purchase your ticket for the day if you don't use the CATS Pass App.

Our first ride with be from the I-485 station, the southern-most station on the line. There is plenty of parking here, or you can ride the Blue Line to get to the station.

We will depart 485 Station on the 10:20 am train and ride to 7th Street Station at 10:51.

You can also join us at 7th Street Station if you don’t care to go all the way to the south end of the line. We will pause at 7th Street Station for coffee, and then gather everyone up and depart at 11:31 am northbound all the way to the UNC Charlotte Main station, arriving at 11:59 am.

We will immediately head back south leaving at 12:13 pm and ride just one stop to JW Clay Boulevard arriving 12:16 pm. There are several restaurants and fast-food places nearby where we can all eat lunch.

After lunch we will depart JW Clay at 1:36 pm and arrive back at CTC at 2:07 pm.

For those you haven’t ridden the Gold Line, we can change here and ride the Gold Line to the far ends of the line, and then return to the CTC. From here you can depart the group, or head back to I-485 station to reclaim your car if you drove, or go in any direction you need! Of course anyone can leave the group as necessary at any station.
