Abstract:
Once sufficiently powerful quantum computers are developed, current public-key cryptographic systems will become vulnerable, rendering them obsolete. Anticipating this, adversaries are already storing encrypted data, waiting for the day they can decrypt it using quantum computers. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) offers a promising solution, as it is designed to be secure against both classical and quantum attacks. In this updated version of my 2022 webinar on PQC, I will explain the basics of cryptography, quantum computing, and PQC, explore various types of PQC, provide real-world examples of companies that are already adopting PQC, and offer guidance on preparing for the quantum threat for organizations. Additionally, I will cover the latest developments in the standardization of PQC algorithms, including updates on ML-KEM and ML-DSA.
