A moderate to Strenuous 9-mile 1700 elevation gain loop hike using the Austin Mountain Trail and Madison Run Fire Road located in the southern district of Shenandoah National Park. This hike starts on a fire road then ascends very steeply up the Austin Mountain Trail, crossing some rockslide, then along the top of a mountain before returning on the Madison Run Fire Road. Dress for the weather and be sure to bring Hiking Poles and Micro Spikes. No dogs for this hike. After hike Rehydration at LiL’ Guss’ located at 703 Dogwood Avenue in Grottoes. Update to registered participants the day before hike.
