Join us for a rewarding workday on Brown Mountain trail, located in one of the more remote areas of the South District of Shenandoah National Park. This scenic trail lies almost entirely within the federally designated wilderness area, beginning at Skyline Drive, descending into a saddle, and then ascending toward Rocky Mountain and Brown Mountain.

Workday details: Our primary focus will be controlling water erosion along the sloping trails. We will accomplish this by installing new water diversion structures and refurbishing existing ones. All participants will receive training, and we encourage individuals with all levels of experience to take part. The work can be strenuous as it involves some digging, moving rocks and sawing.

What to bring: We will provide hard hats and tools, but if you have clippers or small saws, please bring them along. Wear work clothes and boots, bring work gloves and safety glasses. Pack plenty of water, snacks, lunch, and insect repellent.

Meeting Time and Place: Meet at 9 AM. Park at the Brown Mountain Overlook, Skyline Drive Milepost 76.9. Carpooling is encouraged, due to limited parking
