Are you planning to go to the Spring Open House hosted by the PATC Charlottesville Chapter? Here's your chance to get there early and snag a primo parking spot! We will be hiking O-Hill and some of the Rivanna Trail prior to the open house. The hike is exclusively for people signed up to go to the open house. You'll get priority on this hike if you tell the group what you are bringing and it seems yummy! (Or if you promise to bring extra beer, because I'll be thirsty after hiking.)
Yeah, O-Hill is kind of boring and it has about 5 times too many mountain bike trails. But we promise no snow, unlike the photo from a 2012 PATC hike. And it has one big advantage: we can hike to the open house! From this hike! And we can check out scenic stuff like the road they seem to be building off of Fontaine Avenue. And the old observatory.
Maybe Callen will come and bring her husband - legend has it he was a paper boy delivering to Dunlodge about a hundred years ago, so he can tell us stories about the place before it became a hiker mecca. (And if she doesn't come, we can all hike to her house, because I know where she lives!) And it can be a good workout, because some of the trails are steep. The road through there is really steep!
So what do you say? Limited space - we'll stop at 20, which is about twice what I normally allow.
