Presentation: Learning Game Development the Hard Way with Rust and Bevy
Coming from blockchain engineering, building a game in Rust and Bevy pushed me into a very different kind of software development. As a first-time game developer, I had to learn not only how to build gameplay systems, but also how to create the tools and workflows needed to keep the project moving.
This talk is about the pain, surprises, and lessons I found while building a game with Bevy, and how that process helped me grow as an engineer. I’ll share what it taught me about iteration, tooling, real-time systems, and designing software that can actually become a playable experience.

SangJun Lee is an indie game developer from South Korea with a background in blockchain engineering for decentralized finance. He has used Rust to write smart contracts for Solana DeFi products and is now using it to develop games.
