CharmBUG Meeting - Spi Rom Retromancy (online)

Our next formal CharmBUG meeting will be held online. The goal for this meeting will be to discuss any BUG topics, or general issues, followed by a talk by Ash Gokhale titled "Spi Rom Retromancy or my hardware hides software that runs hardware".

There have been a lot of interesting hardware vulnerabilities and general distrust of firmware as provided by specific vendors in recent years. In certain cases, vulnerabilities have been found in the low level EEPROMS that have raised the questions of what software is actually embedded in our hardware. Ash will be walking through some interesting examples of specific hardware hacking that he has performed and will share his experiences with what he found with various devices. This talk will touch upon some BSD ports, but will be a general discussion of hardware hacking relevant to a general security audience.

The goal will be to have an informal discussion after the talk to take questions and address any additional topics brought up by the audience members.
