Chat group for intellectuals, literati, atheists and friends

Meet intellectuals, literati and atheists and engage in scintillating conversations about science, the humanities, literature, the social sciences, atheism, etc. The meetings have separate chat rooms based on discussion topics.

Please follow the MeetUp guidelines, be friendly and polite. We can have different opinions and lively discussions, even debates, but no hostile arguments.

You will need a free zoom account to join the meeting. All meetings are online.

The topics for discussion on May 11 are: Science concepts in popular science fiction movies, such as "Interstellar" and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny".

We will watch a few short YouTube videos about the scientific concepts in those movies, namely: wormholes, time dilation, time travel, Einstein's theories (special and general relativity), a higher dimension, and then discuss what we have learned. We will also go to some websites that specifically discuss the scientific concepts in Interstellar. Anyone interested can in fact read the book by Kip Thorne "The Science of Interstellar", available on Amazon. But it's not a prerequisite for joining the meeting.
