What we’re about

Technology is shaping the future — but culture shapes humanity. The Culturally Informed AI Collective is a community for thinkers, creators, and innovators who believe artificial intelligence should reflect the diversity, history, and lived experiences of all people.

This group brings together technologists, artists, educators, researchers, and community advocates who are passionate about exploring how AI can be culturally aware, inclusive, and just. We’ll discuss everything from the biases in algorithms and the preservation of African and African American histories through tech, to designing AI systems that honor language, identity, and storytelling from across the African diaspora.

Expect engaging discussions, workshops, guest speakers, and collaborative projects that explore the intersection of Black culture, ethics, and technology. Whether you’re an AI developer, policy maker, historian, or just curious about how tech can do better — you belong here.

We aim to create space where cultural wisdom meets technological innovation, ensuring AI reflects the full humanity of the people it serves.

Core themes:

Ethical AI and social justice

African and African American contributions to tech

Building community-centered technology

Join us if you believe in technology that uplifts, not erases — that learns from culture, not just data.
