What we’re about
Grief can be isolating at any stage. Unhappy Hour is a bi-weekly, judgment-free gathering for anyone living life after loss—designed for connection, not fixing. Real conversation, shared silence, awkward laughs, and time with people who get it. And no pressure to share unless you want to.
I created Unhappy Hour in 2024 because I needed it. My husband died in 2023, and after relocating from Hollywood to the San Fernando Valley—with my friends and family all in my hometown of Chicago—I wanted a consistent way to be around other grievers and feel less alone. If you’ve been craving that too, you’re in the right place.
About your host: I’m Kelsey, a recent widow with a personal and professional background in death and dying, and in supporting families after loss. This meetup is mainly about connection, but I’m also happy to share practical guidance and resources when it’s useful—especially if you’re in the early days and dealing with the administrative side of things.
