NH native and long-time Somerville, MA resident, Karen Grenier has been writing and performing for over 25 years. Drawing in both new and faithful fans, Karen's songs resonate in the heart, leaving listeners anticipating the next song and humming her catchy melodies.
Her musical style is in the vein of Joni Mitchell meets just about anybody.
A polished performer, Karen's smooth, penetrating voice, rhythmic acoustic style and positive emotional energy compliment her knack for writing crafty lyrics and catchy melodies, and make for an excellent listening experience.
Karen got her start playing in bars and restaurants in the mid 90’s in New Hampshire and caught a break in 1999, landing a seasonal gig in Provincetown, MA where she performed regularly for over 20 years. “Provincetown put me on the map as a performer. My fans and friends opened doors for me that I never imagined!” Karen’s has performed throughout New England, and has appeared on stages in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey Delaware, North Carolina, Florida , Ohio, Wisconsin and California.
Voted the 2009 Boston Pride Idol winner, Karen was named a semifinalist in the 2006 Peacedriven Songwriting Contest and won a songwriting contest from Nashville's Music City Search in 2002 performing her song at the Country Music Hall of Fame. In addition, two of Karen’s songs are featured on the Dawson's Creek DVD.
Karen balances her love for music & performing with another passion, working with kids. Currently Dean of Students for Somerville, MA Public Schools, she has profound gratitude for being able to pursue both careers. "You've got to reach for your dreams... It's an attitude I've always tried to inspire in my students... and I'm living mine everyday!" For Karen, it's all about being genuine and connecting with people. "If I can do that, I've achieved success."
Karen resides in Somerville with her wife Tracy, their dogs Skylar and Sissy and cat Daisy.
