Birding on the Downs

Main agenda will be looking for typical chalk downland species, and also for any rare passage spring migrants and birds of prey. Weather can be quite unpredictable, and it's almost always windy so if the weather's a bit chilly be sure to wrap up warm. Bring binoculars if you can, but even of you don't have any it's still a great place for a general walk. Food and water is obviously essential. Will pause for a lunch break midway through. Location will be outside the Red Lion pub in Avebury. For anyone coming in by public transport, the 49 bus runs every half hour from Swindon Town centre.
