Kodagu is an administrative district in Karnataka, India. Before 1956 it was an administratively separate Coorg State,at which point it was merged into an enlarged Mysore State. It occupies an area of 4,102 square kilometres (1,584 sq mi) in the Western Ghats of southwestern Karnataka. In 2001 its population was 548,561, 13.74% of which resided in the district's urban centres, making it the least populous of the 30 districts in Karnataka.
Kodagu is known for its coffee and its people. The dominant group are the indigenous and other ethnic groups (Arabashe Gowdas and Kodava subgroups). The chief languages presently spoken in Kodagu are Kodava, Are Bhashe, Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Urdu and English. Kodagu is home to the native speakers of the Kodava language.Things to do:

About Rajmachi:
Rajmachi is one of the most scenic treks in the Sahyadris. Picturesquely located between Khandala and Lonavla, Rajmachi actually consists of two forts Shrivardhan and Manaranjan
At the base of the Mountain is the serene Tungarli Lake surrounded by waterfalls while Kondhavi Caves can be found on top of the fort.
There is a beautiful temple of Kal-Bhairavi between the twin forts. The view from the top of the Fort is panoramic comprising Ulhฤs River, Dukeโs Nose,
Although there was an earthquake in the early 1900s many stupas, the front entrance, and the floor of the caves were damaged. But what remains intact is the beautiful Chaitya that welcomes you to the rock-cut caves that were created around 200 BC
Itinerary for Rajmachi:
Day 0:
10.30 PM: Start for Lonavala by train from Hyderabad (Hyderabad Deccan/ Begumpet/ Lingampalli) (Sleeper class/3A)
Day 1:
10.30 AM: Reach Lonavala station, freshen up and board the hired vehicles.
12.00 PM: Stop for lunch
12.30 PM: Finish lunch and start for the base village in Kaarjat.
03.30 PM: Reach base village and rest.
04.00 PM: Start the trek.
04.30 PM: Reach Kondhane Buddhist Caves.
04.45 PM: Start trek for Udhewadi.
09.00 PM: Reach Udhewadi and walk towards the Rajmachi village
09.15 PM: Reach Rajmachi village, freshen up and have dinner at the homestay.
09.30 PM: Walk around the village and spot fireflies... Click some great pics
Day 2:
05.00 AM: Wake up call and freshen up.
05.30 AM: Start trek towards Shrivardhan Fort.
06.00 AM: Reach Shrivardhan Fort and enjoy the sunrise.
07.00 AM: Explore twin forts and start to descend.
08.30 AM: Have homemade breakfast and get ready.
09.00 AM: Start descend back to base village.
12:00 PM: Reach base village and take rest.
01.00 PM: Start for Lonavala Station.
02.30 PM: Reach Lonavala and have lunch.
04.45 PM: Start back to Hyderabad (train)
Day 3:
05.30 AM: Reach Hyderabad (Lingampalli/Begumpet/Hyderabad Deccan)
