Talk:
An Agent is as good as the evaluation framework - Build Agentic invocation frameworks with Kafka, Strands, MCP and MlFlow

Abstract:
Data engineering agents do the work of extracting insights from data platforms such as ones built on Apache Iceberg, using natural language queries. These agents utilize **MCP(Model Content Protocol)** as the language spoken by various Agents. MCPs built around major open source frameworks such as **DuckDB**, **Kafka** and Iceberg enables AI agents to autonomously run data engineering operations.

This session would cover both custom MCP tool creation using FastMCP for PyIceberg as well as MCP tools exposed by Open Source MCP servers from Kafka, DuckDB. Deployment of these agents in production and evaluation of agent responses with a framework, would also be covered

Bio:
Developer Advocate at Confluent. Designed and implemented ‘Modern Data Platform’ for large scale enterprise use cases. Works at the intersection of Data(Spark, Flink, Kafka, Arrow, Iceberg, Glue, Hive) and AI(MCP, pytorch,sagemaker,vertex ai, LLMs) at cloud scale (AWS and Google Cloud).
