Chennai Speakers Hive Meetup

During our weekly Sunday meetups (10 am - 11.30 am), our members play a variety of roles which involve speaking, observing, listening, thinking on the feet and giving constructive feedback. Ours is a 'learn-by-doing' community. Each participant speaks and gets feedback for their performance every week.

The weekly meetings have 3 segments:
1. Hive Talks: Members will come prepared with a speech based on specific objectives and deliver them at the hive meetings (3 - 5 mins duration speeches). This segment prepares the members to deliver speeches confidently with the right voice modulation, gestures, eye contact etc.,
2. JAM Talks: This is the Just-a-Minute Talk segment where members will practise their impromptu speaking skills. Members/Guests will be given a topic and asked to speak for about 1 - 1.5 mins. This skill will be useful during interviews, group discussions and water-cooler conversations
3. Peer-Reviews: Reviewers will share critical, constructive and concise feedback for the Hive Talks Speakers for 1 - 2 mins. This skill will be useful to give precise and constructive feedback to our team members at work.

Members get mentoring / coaching support from experts in the community during their role preparations and rehearsals. Additionally, we have expert guest lectures and "improv" sessions conducted periodically during our meetups.
