Bombay Hook Photography

Details
In this photography oriented field trip we will explore Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge to photograph birds and any other subjects that present themselves. The emphasis will be on taking time to get the best photos and not on getting a long list of bird species. We will discuss various photo techniques and how to overcome some of the challenges of bird photography. All skill levels.
What you should bring: Camera with a telephoto lens of, at least, 400 mm full frame equivalent focal length. Contact me if you are unsure if your camera/lens will be suitable. Interchangeable lens cameras and all-in-one super-zoom cameras are both fine. A tripod or monopod can make it easier to hold the camera in one place for longer periods but is not required. Most shots will be hand-held. Binoculars are always good to have but are not required if photography is your primary interest. Also bring water, lunch, snacks, sun screen, bug spray, hat. Sturdy shoes but no challenging walks. We will be mostly working from vehicles or taking walks of no more than a few hundred yards on level ground. Mud possible. Check the forecast and bring appropriate clothing layers. Bombay Hook is wide open with no wind breaks so can be hot if there is no breeze or very windy and cool.
Since it is an early start there will be an optional get-together the evening before in Smyna, DE for anyone who wants to spend the night.
Must contact the leader to register. Limit to six participants. Contact Hugh Simmons at 410-456-0017 or [lensonnature@gmail.com](mailto:lensonnature@gmail.com) to register.
