Speakers Series: Midway Island and Patagonia

Please join us for a birding and nature travel double-header with Chesapeake Audubon Society Board Members Bryan Mackay and Hugh Simmons.

First Presentation: 30 minutes - Bryan MacKay
Midway Island, over 1,000 miles west of Hawaii, enjoys an almost mythical status among birders as a bucket-list destination. Join Bryan MacKay for a look at Midway’s birds and their conservation as he experienced them during his 2001 week-long visit.

Second Presentation: 30 Minutes - Hugh Simmons
The Patagonia region of Argentina and Chile is rich with wildlife, birds and stunning scenery. Hugh Simmons will take you on a virtual tour with photos from his recent trip there.

Bryan MacKay has been a Board member of Chesapeake Audubon for almost 50 years. He is the author of “A Year Across Maryland: A Week-by-week Guide to Discovering Nature in the Chesapeake Region”.

Hugh Simmons is a Board member of Chesapeake Audubon and a guide and photographer for Naturalist Journeys, LLC. He is a founding member of the North American Nature Photography Association.
