Film Screening: My Octopus Teacher

Winner of the Best Documentary Film at the 93rd Academy Awards this is the story of the close relationship developed between a free diving filmmaker, Craig Foster, and a female Common Octopus in the Great South African Sea Forest.

Following the film a discussion and Q&A period will be led by Ashleigh Clews, Curator of the Animal Care and Rescue Center at the National Aquarium in Baltimore where she and her team are responsible for the care and well-being of every animal before they are transferred to the displays at the Aquarium. With a lifelong passion for the marine environment Ashleigh started volunteering at the Aquarium in 2001 and was hired as Aquarist Aide in 2004. She has been diving / collecting in Long Island, Seattle and the Bahamas.
