What’s Chess IRL all about?
This is a community-driven meetup for real chess, with real people, and real pieces. It’s a fun, casual, and welcoming space for players of all skill levels to connect and play.

What to Expect:

• A turnout of 10–20 players of various skill levels
• Casual, friendly games in a great environment
• No RSVP? No problem! Even if RSVPs look low, don’t hesitate to join—we always have a solid group show up.

• Location: Central Machine Works Brewery in East Austin
• Parking: Best bet is the back gate on W. 5th Street (between Springdale Road and Spencer Lane). Look for signs that say “Central Machine Works.”

Who can join?
Absolutely everyone! Beginners, seasoned players, and newcomers alike—all are welcome.
When do we meet?
We meet every Sunday, year-round. Meeting times may shift slightly throughout the year to accommodate the weather.
Do I need to bring chess sets or clocks?
Chess IRL provides 10 chess sets and 5 clocks. If attendance exceeds that, we’ll kindly ask participants to bring extra equipment.
Are there any dues or fees?
Never! Chess IRL is completely free. While no dues are required, donations of chess sets or clocks for the community are always appreciated.
Is Chess IRL affiliated with any formal groups?
Nope! We’re an independent, community-focused group with no official affiliations.
