What we’re about
Chester county Co-housing is a group for those interested in living in or supporting co-housing communities in the Western suburbs of the Philadelphia area. We welcome and want to promote all Philadelphia area co-housing groups including Altair EcoVillage (just outside of Phoenixville), PA . Altair has purchased the ground for their Chester County co-housing community and the Township has approved an Ordinance allowing an EcoVillage! We are using the bonuses - a 55+ option, and a measurable Sustainable SITES certification option so that we can build 29 homes.
The EcoVillagers are a group of community-oriented people of diverse ages and family configurations who have been together for many years with the goal of forming a neighborhood community in the Rural Center of Kimberton (near Phoenixville). We share a desire to live more ecologically, eco-friendly, and in closer connection with our neighbors. We're in active discussions with township planners about developing the EcoVillage. Our members have helped design the site, the Common House, and the Homes, and our Construction Manager is currently estimating the costs.
We currently have 13 active members, but have room for many more.

We'll start out at the Altair table in the Market. Come early to do your shopping, listen to music, and meet at our table display between 11:30 and noon.
We'll head up to Bridge Street for pizza at Vecchia at 249 Bridge Street, Phoenixville PA at noon, continue next door to Gemelli Gelato (247 Bridge), and then check out Art on Bridge gallery at the former EcoStore across the street (252 Bridge).
Phoenixville's Farmer's Market has live musicians, local produce, and handmade craft/artist vendors under the bridge behind Main and Bridge Streets.
