North Wales Tech visits Chester Devs

Details

North Wales Tech (http://northwales.tech) invade Chester! An evening of talks about making things. Software, hardware, electronics and teaching coding. Confirmed speakers so far are:

D.I.Y. Space Projects - Jo Hinchliffe (https://twitter.com/concreted0g)

Jo is involved with many inspiring projects, most of which are built in his garden shed. From micro satellites to amateur rocketry to masterful machining work. Jo will give an overview of the kinds of projects he's involved with. He's also largely responsible for "borrowing" Andy Esser from Chester Devs! For a sneak peak have a look at Jo's TEDx talk from last year:

Open Energy Monitor - Glyn Hudson (https://twitter.com/glynhudson) and David Hunnisett (https://twitter.com/m0untainpenguin)

A successful kickstarter project and a strong desire to do the right thing by our planet led Glyn and Trystan to set up their own company that produces open source energy monitoring kits. Microcontroller and Raspberry Pi powered, with lots of visualisation and data capture on top, they've since grown a considerable following and even involvement in local community hydro electric projects in North Wales. David will be talking about how he's used it in his home and helping them with a new product.

Teaching Kids to Code - Alex Clewett (https://twitter.com/OkComputing)

Alex is a teacher in a school in Flintshire, a Code Club champion, Ardunio enthusiast, Raspberry Pi buff and Micro:Bit furtler. Alex can given an insight into what it's like to be teaching our children to code in schools right now and expand on how they are doing it and what you can do to help.

DoES Liverpool - Adrian McEwen (https://twitter.com/amcewen)

DoES Liverpool is a community of people with a diverse range of skills and interests. Mingle with entrepreneurs and company founders, artists and makers, developers and hardware engineers, academics and students (and many people that are less easy to label). We are also a co-working space and a workshop well equipped with a range of electronics equipment, 3d printers, vacuum former, CNC mill and laser cutters.
