Reflections of a Senior Engineer - Steven Atkinson - Hybrid Event

I have been in tech for over ten years, and in that time, I have learned a whole lot from a bunch of different people. I have worked on a variety of different projects, including simple log management apps (when I was in an apprenticeship), all the way up to complex systems. I am currently a Senior Software Engineer at Clock, a software consultancy, and am involved in both new and existing projects.

My talk will be all about my journey from an apprentice (not even programmer-related) right up to my recent roles in consultancies. I’ll go over all the things I learned, all the interesting things I did, and all the mistakes I made, along with the moments where I started feeling slightly overwhelmed. My hope is that my story will help software engineers in their early careers understand that this is a career that involves continuous improvement and that there are challenges that need to be overcome. The feeling of euphoria during each new discovery will help to drive you forward.
