New Plot Formats

The last year or so has seen an escalating series of higher and higher compression of Chia plots from the likes of MadMax, NoSSD and Dr Nick, which has slowly moved farming at the extreme end into the direction of Proof of Work and made an uneven playing field.

In general this is a "bad thing" and a team of experts including Bram Cohen, Harold and Dr Nick have been working on a new Proof of Space and two new plot formats (one optimised for traditional spinning hard drives and one for SSDs) which should make significant compression (and Proof of Work style plot grinding) un-economical in the long term.

There have been a number of high level details recently released about this and the transition period from old to new plots (which will likely take 18-24months from now to complete). Come along and discuss this and other topics at our next MeetUp!
