Our Thursday Coffee Meetups have taken us on journeys from farms in Australia to the paradoxes of living in a tourist town, from the meaning of power in relationships to reflections on ethical living, family struggles, and humor in unexpected places. Each week, we’ve found that simple questions can open doors to extraordinary conversations.
This lunch is about continuing that spirit — but with more time to dive deeper. Over fresh vegan food in the garden, we’ll share insights and stories through thoughtful prompts and ice-breaking questions such as:

With 21% of Americans wanting to permanently leave their country — the highest ever recorded — this isn’t just an “American problem.” Around the world, people face the impossible choice of staying in broken systems or choosing themselves by leaving.
This conversation is for anyone who has:

• Left home due to political instability, economic collapse, corruption, or social unrest
• Struggled with watching their country from abroad
• Questioned what they owe to those who couldn’t leave
• Worked to build new roots while still honoring their origins

We’ll explore together:

• What was your breaking point? The moment you realized you had to choose between your wellbeing and staying in America (or elsewhere) to “fight the good fight.”
• How do you handle the guilt—if any—about leaving while family and friends are still dealing with the chaos back home? Do you feel like you abandoned the struggle or saved yourself?
• What does ‘choosing yourself’ actually look like in practice? How has prioritizing your peace and safety changed your daily life, mental health, or future planning?
