Presenter:
Joel Tosi - Principal at Red Green Innovate
Background: Developer; Manager; Architect (Red Hat Architect RHCSA); Entrepreneur
Course Description:
Continuous Delivery is not just automation – but understanding what to automate and what not to automate. It’s not just provisioning, but also scaling up and down. It’s not only break-fix but also removing risk as quick as possible.
In this hands on course, we will start off by focusing on what Continuous Delivery / DevOps means, what it doesn’t mean, and most importantly, what value this brings to us. With that background, we will start by introducing a software creation and delivery lifecycle – beyond just writing code. The real lifecycle – when it is being used, and has to be patched…and updated. We will then look at challenges in the overall flow, along the way discussing options that can create consistency as well as the ability to automate. We will also explore what cannot be automated and what fragile automation is. After looking at these individual components, we will then look at the system as a whole and understand how we can create a dynamic, high-quality, competitive advantage with our IT.
Upon completion of this course, students will understand the basic tenants of Continuous Delivery and have the skills to implement Continuous Delivery using best practices and emerging automation tools. The course will be heavy in exercises and the exercises will build upon each other. Whenever practicable, we will use samples from real projects.
