Data Liberation and the Dangers of Lock-in

Details
We're excited to host Brian Fitzpatrick (https://twitter.com/therealfitz). Brian started Google's Chicago engineering office in 2005. An open source contributor for over 13 years, Brian is the engineering manager for several Google products, a member of both the Apache Software Foundation and the Open Web Foundation, a former engineer at Apple and CollabNet, a Subversion developer, a author of several books, and a resident of Chicago.
Brian will talk about a topic that is increasingly pertinent for the data science community: data "ownership" and how we can get at data from various online services. In particular, as we move more and more of our data into the cloud, it's becoming vital that we consider the portability of that data or we risk losing our digital legacy due to lock-in.
