Details
All, For those who regularly come to meetups you should be familiar with Boris Lublinsky and Trevor Grant. (Trevor got kidnapped by IBM but they still let him organize a couple of our sister meetup groups.) For some reason, there's this conference in Berlin that was so desperate for a set of speakers that they accepted talks from both Trevor & Boris. Now as it is getting closer to the conference... both are in a panic because they aren't sure if their talks are up to snuff and would like to do a dry run and get desperately needed feedback. All kidding aside, this is a good event to help hone their talks and for those who can't make it to Berlin, exposure to new ideas. ( Not to mention a chance to heckle Boris. ;-) Please join us to help make their talks worthy of saying that they are from Chicago. I wish I could give you more information on their talks, but I don't even have the synopsis from the conference. All I know is Boris' talk is "FlinkML - model serving with Flink" beyond that I know nothing. ( Please stay tuned as we will probably get more information on their topics.... Updated information:
https://berlin.flink-forward.org/kb_sessions/introducing-flinkml/ About The Speakers: About Boris: Boris refuses to provide a self written bio, so I have to make something up. Boris Lublinsky is the author of Professional Hadoop Solutions and a co-organizer of the meetup group CHUG. Boris cut his teeth on Hadoop and Big Data related technologies at HERE, and has since moved on to working with another local champion of CHUG, CASE and Spark Meetups, Dean Wampler. (Rumor has it that Dean took pity on Boris and hired him at Lightbend... but it hasn't been confirmed. The pity part. Boris is working for Lightbend ) Boris is also a contributor to InfoQ and an all around nice guy. (He paid me to say the last part.) ;-) About Trevor:
Trevor Grant is PMC Member on the Apache Mahout project and PPMC on Apache Streams (incubating) the recently graduated Apache Streams! By day he is an Open Source Technical Evangelist at IBM, mainly focused on 1) Math at Scale, 2) Machine Learning in the Stream, 3) AI on the Edge- but he needs a cool new term for this, because “data scientist” now just means ‘business analyst who knows Python’.
