(CANCELED) Fall 🍁 Hike Series 24!! (Final Hike)- Maple Lake Palos Park 6 miles

The Last hike of the Fall Hiking Series will be on Sunday Nov 30th @ 9am at Maple Lake in Willow Springs, IL

We'll meet at the parking lot on the East side of Maple Lake. At 9am!!

On Maps the area is called:

The address above may not show the correct spot. Search by name. The Mountain Bike Staging Area is off of 95th st across from Fairmont Cemetery. Drive to the very end of the parking lot, you'll see picnic areas.

Hike will begin at 9:10 a.m.

This will be a medium length trail, approximately 6 mi. Pace is moderate.

The plan is to hike a loop consisting of several trails:
Black 🖤 Paved Spur trail to
Yellow 🟡 single track Trail (south), then crossing Wolf Road we'll follow the Brown 🟤 Unpaved trail.

At Red Gate Woods we could check out the historical burial site of the world's first nuclear reactor from the Manhattan project in 1942. 🤓 Afterwords, we'll walk back to the Blue 🔵 unpaved Trail and single track Trail.

That trail will lead us to the west side of Maple Lake where there is a boat launch & kayak rental building. Last time I visited there was a porta potty here.

We'll walk east on the driveway back to the familiar Yellow 🟡 single track Trail back to the Mountain Bike Staging Area parking lot.

Keep in mind, bathroom facilities are closed for the cold season. Sometimes there are porta potties available but it's not a guarantee.

Bring enough water and snacks for yourself as we'll take a break halfway through to fuel up.

Post hike is a mandatory trip to the Push Horse Palos Park ice cream shop! 😋🍦 (Just kidding it's optional)
