Planning the future of the Chicago Area C/C++ Users' Group

Details

[Conrad Weisert, not me, is hosting this meeting.]

Last summer a few enthusiasts led by Olinga Abbott launched the Chicago Area C/C++ Users' Group. The group got off to a strong start with meetings starting in September. Using a meetup web site, the group has enrolled more than 80 members in the Chicago area.

Unfortunately, most of those members have so far been passive remote observers. Although interest in C++ in the Chicago area is strong, our group hasn't yet established a critical mass of officers, regular attendees, and presenters. Olinga Abbott has reluctantly asked to be relieved of his demanding responsibility as the primary (sometimes the sole) motivating force in the group.

To regain the momentum, I believe our group urgently needs:

a program chair to recruit speakers and plan interesting meetings for the next few months
a webmaster (the meetup site will expire next month if someone doesn't take responsibility)
an arrangements chair to secure meeting locations and equipment
an overall chair, replacing Olinga.
You may have other ideas. Let's discuss them.
