Cardano Chicagoland Governance Meetup

Details
Join us at the Public Landing Loft in the Gaylord Building of Lockport, IL for a Cardano Meetup to discuss Blockchain Governance! This will be the perfect event to learn more about Cardano, Blockchain concepts, and to network with others who share the passion for decentralization.
In this Meetup we will discuss the upcoming Chang Hardfork that will enable CIP-1694, the new on-chain governance system where holders of Cardano's ADA tokens will choose Delegate Representatives (DReps) to lead the network along with Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) and a Constitutional Committee (CC).
We will also introduce Intersect, the new Members-Based Organization that has been charged with keeping the GitHub Repository of the Cardano Node and essential operations software. Our panel of contributors will discuss how Open Source code and permissionless participation helps guarantee robust blockchain networks.
Light appetizers will be served and a cash bar will be available for attendees, so please RSVP to let us know you are coming. The first 20 individuals to RSVP will be able to claim a complimentary drink ticket from the host!
Note: This Meetup will be immediately following the Cardano DRep Pioneer Workshop. If you would like more information about becoming a DRep you can Register for the Workshop.
Speaker Announcement:
We are proud to be hosting Featured Speakers, Ben O'Hanlon and Silona Bonewald!
Ben O'Hanlon got his start in decentralized finance by building communities in traditional banking and market services. After discovering Cardano, Ben joined the Cardano Foundation as a community manager before moving to the community team at IOG.
Now serving as Director of Community and Developer Relations, Ben is currently working on a project mapping the Cardano ecosystem.
Silona Bonewald recently joined Intersect MBO as a Subject Matter Expert because of her deep experience with Open-Source Projects and Non-Profit Structures.
Silona's past positions include leadership at PayPal, where she created the InnerSource certification program; Vice President of Hyperledger, promoting blockchain adoption across varied industries and cultivating international collaborative communities; and Executive Director of the IEEE Standards Association, where she launched cloud-based platforms to support open source standards.
We will have a great discussion on how networks like Cardano rely on the community to ensure governance, growth, and success!
