What we’re about
Welcome to the Chicagoland Dual-Sport Riders Meetup Club! Dual-sport, dual-purpose and adventure bikes are motorcycles that are capable of traveling both on and off-road. The purpose of the Chicagoland Dual-Sport Riders Meetup Club is to promote interest in dual-sport riding, organize dual-sport rides for club members, and organize social events for club members and families. Why should “bikers” have all the fun? This is a great way to meet riders of all levels of experience and participate in organized rides and outings. Safety takes priority on every ride that is organized through this site and it is important that every motorcyclist adhere to all applicable laws and ride within their ability.
This is a social club of independent riders who use Meetup.com to organize group rides and social events. New members at all levels of experience are encouraged to join. Sign up and come ride with us!

See all- Hugellandschaft Adventure Ride May 30-June 1, 2025Palace Campground, Galena, IL
You guessed it, time for another reiteration of the Hugellandschaft Adventure ride encompassing Northwest Illinois and the Southern Driftless regions of Iowa and Wisconsin during the weekend of May 30-June 1, 2025. Plenty of elevation changes, twisty roads of every surface/condition, spectacular views provided you take the time to stop and absorb them and welcoming villages along the way. Scenic landscapes, parks, ferry rides, friendly farmers, verdant pastures, questionable haircuts and the charming tourist trap that is Galena Illinois. Once again, the base of operations and preferred lodging accommodations will be centered around campsite 89 at Palace Campground which is located on the north end of Galena. You are responsible for making reservations; Palace Camp website If all you need is a tent site without power or water, no reservations are required, they will never run out of tent space. Ever. I have almost 500 miles of tracks to enjoy over the three-day weekend that will get posted once I’m comfy with the final share version. Palace is full on equipped with ample shower space, mini golf, hookups, swimming pool, cabins for rent and favorable proximity to fuel, food and other services. Keep in mind that I keep organization to a minimum, so it is up to every rider to provide for themselves on their individual schedule. Things I do; 1; Provide some GPS tracks for you to load, make sense of and navigate. 2; Free morning coffee from my site 89 Keurig machine. 3; Have a selection of free commemorative stickers you can adorn your ride with. 4; Prepare and serve a Saturday evening meal of pork chops and related fixins. All my camp site recipes contain bacon so sorry; I have no vegan options. I will answer any questions, bring the laptop to field load a navigation device, provide some table space and share my electrical power if needed but beyond that you are on your own. If you can’t make it this weekend, feel free to ride the tracks when your schedule permits. Here comes the standard disclosure and explanation for any newbies. This is a gathering of like-minded enthusiasts, for the sole purpose of having fun. This is not a competition, please no wagering. There are dangers lurking everywhere and this weekend is no different. You will be on public roads that contain surface hazards, suicidal animals, oversize farm equipment, gawking tourists, snakes, hill folk on side by sides, crowded city traffic, grumpy entitled rich people who don’t like you driving by their multi million-dollar properties that were once productive farmland, broken glass, burning mattresses, driftwood, barnacles, ditch cougars and snares of Satan. Nuff’ said. Use your noodle, be careful, ride at your own risk, don’t put your face directly over the bag when you open the microwave popcorn and if you plan on ignoring authority, please, break only one law at a time. Remember, the best accessory you can add to any motorcycle is a healthy, alert, well-trained rider. If something unfortunate happens that’s your bad and we assume you have adequate insurance. Please respect the campground policies and other campers. Of importance is the fact that this event is free, no charge to anyone, because giving back is what it’s all about. Here is a link to the previous year event so you can familiarize yourself with this format. Hugellandschaft 2024 This event is big bike friendly but anything with wheels will work. Don’t be fooled by You Tube influencers, the best Adventure bike is the one in your garage. Come on out and enjoy time with great people. This event is a fund raiser for UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison, WI. All raffle and auction proceeds are donated to UW-CCC. Donations are collected by club members and event participants. Checks to UW Carbone Cancer Center are accepted. Representatives from the UW Cancer Research Center usually come to the event to thank the club and participants for their support and to inform us of the research they have been able to perform because of the fund raising the club has made over the years. This is truly exciting and rewarding for the Wisconsin Dual Sport Riders to support research at UW-CCC to cure breast and colon cancer.
Dual Sport Route
Dual Sport is a type of motorcycle riding which is a mix of off road trails connected with the use of roads. Trails are used with permission and/or permits through the USFS, County forests, and private landowners. Trails range from 2 track, gravel, minimal pavement (as little as we can), and 20+single track (Hero) sections that are optional - Saturday's route is usually about 125 miles and Sunday's route is usually about 75 miles (though miles and routes change often yearly). The motorcycles are street legal motorcycles that are fully off road capable. Knobby tires strongly recommended for the "Hero Sections"Dual Sport GGR(Guided Group Ride) - Formerly Dual Sport Lite / 101
As an alternative to Saturday’s main Dual Sport route, we also offer a Dual Sport Guided Group Ride (GGR). GGR is designed for riders who want to enjoy forest roads and trails (some mud, sand, single track, two track, and gravel) on a route that minimizes contact with the faster main route riders. Men and women of all ages are invited to participate. A pair of WDSR club members provide the navigation and support along the way. Riders can also use their own navigation without worrying of missing a turn nor getting lost. The GGR Trail Guide will ensure that all riders get to the Saturday lunch stop and then back to the Wabeno Fairgrounds in the afternoon – no rider will be left behind. We will have a short GGR Rider Meeting after Saturday’s main Rider Meeting before heading out on the GGR route. All GGR riders start out as a large group leaving the Wabeno Fairgrounds and then naturally separate into smaller faster/slower sub-groups in the initial few miles of the route. This allows the riders to complete the route at an enjoyable pace that more closely matches up to their abilities and experience. While we don’t offer WDSR GGR Trail Guides for the Sunday route, we typically see riders from Saturday form bonds, group up, and venture out on Sunday on their own. WDSR members cannot teach a person how to ride a motorcycle, but there’s a lot that can be learned when talking with experienced riders. For additional bike/rider prep tips click on the "About" tab on the WDSR home page.Adventure Route
This ride is for larger multi-cylinder and big single-cylinder bikes, like the 1090R, GS1200, GS800, V-Strom, Super Tenere, Tiger, KLR650, and others, but all bikes are welcome. The route involves plenty of 4wd roads miles to develop new skills plus sandy roads, gravel roads, maybe a touch of mud or deeper sand, and very little asphalt. This ride will contain some more challenging, but optional "Hero" type off-road sections based upon rider input from previous events. Saturday's route is usually ~175 miles and Sunday's route is usually ~100 miles. Suitable off-road tires are required!Lodging and Meals
