We are excited to host Stefanie Posavec and Jon Schwabish for an exciting evening of design and data!

Stefanie and Jon almost need no introduction, but here's one anyway:

Stefanie moved to London from Denver, CO, in 2003 and never went home. She is a designer for whom data is her favoured medium, with projects ranging from data visualization and information design to data art commissions. Her personal work focuses on non-traditional representations of data derived from language, literature, or scientific topics, often using a hand-crafted approach. This work has been exhibited internationally at major galleries including MoMA (New York), CCBB (Rio de Janeiro), the Science Gallery (Dublin), the V&A, the Science Museum, The Southbank Centre, and Somerset House (London). She is on Twitter @stefpos.

Jon is an economist, writer, teacher, and creator of policy-relevant data visualizations. He is a senior research associate and data visualization specialist at the Urban Institute and publishes a blog and podcast at his site PolicyViz.com, where he helps people improve the way they process, visualize, analyze, and present their data and research. His tutorials, remakes, and interviews with data visualization and presentation experts speak to scholars, policy wonks, and anyone with a data story to tell. He is on Twitter @jschwabish.

Stefanie and Jon are currently on tour running data visualization workshops. Here's the link to their (paid) 1-day workshop in Chicago happening on June 14, the day after this meetup! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/data-designed-chicago-tickets-43710562469

Also, the night's conversation will be moderated by Mike Stringer, an IDEO data scientist, and held at Digital Kitchen, a creative experience company.
