In Sirât the Galician director Oliver Laxe delivers a mesmerizing thriller about a man’s search for his lost daughter, set amid raves in the punishing Sahara. It is a visually stunning film that blends elements of mystery, drama, and existential themes, set against the backdrop of a rave in the Moroccan desert. Critics note its unexpected narrative shifts and emotional depth. What starts like a mystery, then seems to shift to a story of subjugation by armed soldiers, and then becomes a desert road movie, with images of vans crossing a barren desert that almost echo “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
