What we’re about

This meetup is for attending as many House/Progressive/Trance/Trap/Dub/Hardcore/EDM-related nightlife, parties, partying, nightclubs, clubs, clubbing and festivals as possible in the greater Chicago area.  It looks like there are a few decent events per week at least, unfortunately there are only a few top clubs in Chicago (like 10 or so).  There are some medium-sized electronic festivals in the area as well.

We are NOT AFFILIATED with any venue, artist, DJ, producer, promoter, company, or group in any way whatsoever.

This means:

RSVPing on Meetup to events or even showing up at event may not  guarantee entrance to venue.  Places have capacity limits, lines, guestlists, dress codes, etc.  DO YOUR HOMEWORK TO AVOID A WASTED TRIP, but it's a safe bet to dress sharp/hot/psychedelic and show up early-ish!

I'm no promoter, and I have no weight or influence over any venue's staff.  GET ON THE VENUE's GUESTLIST/BUY TICKETS as early as possible is my advice.

1a. We CANNOT help get you get INTO the club (you will have to buy your own ticket or guestlist yourself).  For popular events, we cannot interfere with your freedom to personally buy extra tickets from official venue ticket sellers, and to then personally give/sell tickets to other group members, but anybody caught selling FAKE event tickets will be ejected from the group, as cheating and ripping people off is not in the spirit of PLUR.

1b. We may spread venue guestlist "passwords" for free cover/entrance around, but you STILL have to pass the venue's ID/age check.

2. We CANNOT get you ALCOHOL if you're underage (even though there are 18+ festivals and concerts we may attend, no meetup member will buy underage persons alcohol), and anybody caught breaking the law will be ejected from the group immediately and the appropriate authorities at the venue notified.

3. EDM is Mainstream now.  OUR ONLY DRUG IS THE MUSIC.  Equally serious consequences as #2, described above.

Our only alliance is to each other, and our only cause is the Music.  We post events almost every single week, and while it is physically impossible for us to attend all of them, usually there are 2-4 events per month with some members attending.

We will try to keep our minds open to organizing diverse electronic music meetups in Chicago, as many as possible in the Chicago area - our goal is to attend a variety of electronic music events, even though we recognize that everybody has their own tastes.  Trance, house, techno, dubstep, psychedelic, hardcore...you name it, we like it.

We may occasionally post events for Parents who are looking for non-alcoholic EDM events that their teenagers can attend.  Such events are always labeled "EDM Parents:" at the beginning.

Watch the COMMENTS section of a specific meetup you're thinking of attending.  People usually write details ("I'm wearing a black dress shirt...", "I'm at the corner of the bar") in the comments section the day-of the event.  Get the Meetup app on your smartphone, it's free.

Send a message to me if you know of other events in the Chicagoland area. There are some great festivals in other parts of the country and world, maybe we can do road trips in the future.

Also, I feel it is only right to inform you of the following decibel measurements:

The most extreme ear plugs max out at 33dB reduction rating, at which point sounds you hear are also coming through your bones and body itself.  If you want to enjoy the music longer (let alone into into old age), wear ear plugs at least.  I always carry almost a dozen FRESH ~32dB plugs with me at all times, so bring your own or HIT ME UP at the club unless you want to permanently damage your hearing.
